UNA CABEZA SEMBRADA_Eva Armisén. 11.11.10 - 19.01.11
Eva Armisén
11 Noviembre - 19 Enero 2010 (PRORROGADA)

Eva Armisén expresses a vision that is strong, universal, and completely unique through her exhibitions on different continents, with past exhibitions not only in Spain but also in the United States, Mexico, Korea, Honk Kong…"A planted head" is her first individual exhibition with ARANAPOVEDA Galería in Madrid.

Eva has cultivates many techniques and medias; from acrylic and oil, from painting to etching, from canvas to ceramics. Her work is displayed in many countries and private collections around the world..

Eva paints, but also writes, in her paintings. For her, the written message “forms part of the life of the painting.” Sometimes one word (“happy”), and sometimes many (“I will be more bad than the big bad wolf”); sometimes everyday thoughts (“Finally at home,” “A Walk”), sometimes sensations (“I am buy I am not”).

These words, that are usually the starting point for a painting, sometimes end up becoming the title. In her work there is almost always a woman present because Eva believes “in the strength of the woman to change things.” Without reaching active feminism, they are women who “know how to overcome problems with sweetness, without aggressiveness.”

Una cabeza sembrada is a series of paintings, etched works on paper inspired by the potential of the imagination that we all have. In the planted head there are seeds planted by her parents, her grandparents, her children. Some seeds are in the ground, others are weeds, some have bloomed, others wait for the opportune time or moment, some don’t germinate because they didn’t like the soil, it didn’t rain enough or perhaps too much or they are incompatible with those at their side, they need more light or more darkness. Some take very deep root and others roots so fragile that it seems miraculous that they persevere.

It speaks of the importance of the process of planting so that there is always the chance for something to germinate and grow. It speaks figuratively of the gardens that everyone cultivates and the importance of having a head that is ventilated, sunny, watered, and in short in contact with the exterior. She likes to think that everyone has soil that they have been given, more or less fertile, and there elects to plant some seeds and some that they don’t choose but take in, that bring the wind, the bees, the butterflies, the contact with other heads…

We tear out the weeds and with more or less luck feed that which we want to grow and kill that which we want to kill and overall we always have the possibility of sprouting something unusual and magical.
