Pierre Riollet (Paris 1963) graduated BB AA in Fine Arts from École des Arts Auguste Renoir in 1983 in Paris. In 2003, alter more than 20 years working as Art Director in the most prestigious Communication Agencies in Paris he decided to devote his life to painting, his great passion and obsession.

The work of Norman Rockwell will lead to an interest in American realism in particular by the work of Hopper and Cuttingham which have been a deep inspiration for the artist.

After a long stay in United States, in 1987 he began its work on the American façades, his main GOAL was the shadows reflected in this building area. In 1989, he had his first solo exhibition on this subject.

BACKLIGHT CITY, his current and first Solo exhibition in Spain in Proyecto Artre Galería in Madrid, is devoted to the tunnels, its light, the clear-dark contrasts, his guiding inspiration

Beyond the symbolism of the tunnel, it is the graphic and the aesthetic effect which interest him in this theme. Whatever the subject is, the framework magnifies the light and serves it. He likes this provocation imposed by the dark frame which steers the eye towards a brilliant and abstract opening, letting the free imagination go towards, open in, rushes in.
It is also the idea of the passage and transition which are expressed here.
